Earlier this year, we shared the exciting news of our partnership with Davar Audio Bibles to record the entire Old Testament in the Wayuu language. Today, we are thrilled to announce that the project has been completed!
For the first time in history, the entire Old Testament is now available in Wayuunaiki audio. This is more than just a recording; it’s a victory for the Kingdom of God and a powerful step forward in equipping the Wayuu church with the Gospel.
The purpose of this project is that every Wayuu believer would have access to the whole counsel of God in a way they could understand and share. The Wayuu are an oral culture, and for many, listening is the primary way they engage with Scripture. Now, alongside the New Testament already available, they can hear the story of God from Genesis to Revelation in their own heart language.
Next Step: Into the Hands of the Church
The completion of the recording is just the beginning. We are now partnering with Faith Comes By Hearing, an incredible ministry that will place the audio Bible on Proclaimers: solar-powered audio devices designed for group listening. These Proclaimers will be distributed directly to Wayuu pastors and churches, enabling believers to hear the Word of God together, grow in their faith, and share the Gospel in their communities.
This milestone is not ours alone. It belongs to everyone who has prayed, given, and encouraged us along the way. To our faithful donors, thank you. To our partners and fellow laborers, thank you. And most of all, we thank God, whose Word never returns empty and whose Spirit is at work among the Wayuu people.
At Bread of Hope, our mission is to empower the indigenous church with the tools they need to share the truth of God and make disciples of all nations. This completed Old Testament recording is a significant step toward that vision. We are humbled, rejoicing, and filled with anticipation for how God will use His Word in La Guajira and beyond.
“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.” – Isaiah 40:8
Join us in giving thanks to God for this historic achievement and in praying for the Wayuu church as they begin to use these powerful new tools.
