Short-term mission teams have been a meaningful part of what God is doing among the Wayuu, encouraging believers, serving communities, and opening doors for the gospel, and we’re not stepping away from that.
We’re looking ahead with expectation to future opportunities to serve together in Colombia. But for this summer, after much prayer and consideration, we are focusing our time and resources in a specific way. Rather than hosting short-term teams in 2026, we are dedicating this season to strengthening and equipping the Wayuu church.
Right now, we are seeing indigenous leaders grow in their understanding of Scripture and step into greater responsibility in their churches. This is a key moment to invest deeply in their formation. At the same time, with the entire Bible now available in Wayuunaiki through the audio Proclaimers, we have a unique opportunity. We want to intentionally equip churches to use God’s Word in their own language for discipleship, teaching, and evangelism in their communities. This kind of focused investment requires time, presence, and intentionality, and we believe it will bear lasting fruit.
We are already preparing to welcome teams again in 2027, into a stronger, more established context, ready for deeper partnership.
In the meantime, you can still be part of what God is doing:
- Pray for Wayuu pastors and leaders.
- Support the work of training and discipleship.
- Prepare to join us in the future.
God is building His church among the Wayuu, and we’re grateful to walk in this mission together with you.
